Bonneville is the peak visible from Pinedale’s main street. In fact, it is hard to ignore. In winter, while all the surrounding peaks are snowy white, Bonneville stands out dark in contrast due to it’s steep walls. Needless to say, we wanted to get a closer look. We covered about 40 miles in 3 days. The mosquitoes were the worst we’ve seen. They even were swarming us while kicking steps in snow at 11,300 feet. Crazy. But amazing. From June 2009

Not a bad start to June. Hiked to Fayette Lake. It’s raining. Everything is turning green.

It was about 2 years ago right now that Jenn and I were getting ready to move out of our apartment. We were looking for jobs, interviewing, wondering what was coming. Now we are in Wyoming and we would never trade the last two years for any amount of money or security. Looking back, i put together a gallery  from that time period complete with a summary of the story in both pictures and words. Take a look HERE and click on “Best of the Road”. Enjoy. But more than enjoy. Go!

Here are some pictures from our trip to Utah. We had a great time and good visit with Sarah and Nate in Moab and with my old friend Anne in Logan where she’s just started grad school in Fluvial Geomorphology (i just wanted to type that in a post). Moab is growing, but still retains some of its desert charms. Climbed, hiked, slept in Lorraine. It felt good. We came back and put on a haunted house at the Aquatic Center that had over 650 visitors in two days. That’s pretty good for a town of 1500 and a county that only has 10,000.  The weather in Pinedale is holding steady with sunny days in the 50s and nights in the 20s. I ride my bike in 30 degree weather and it doesn’t seem all that cold at all. Maybe we’re acclimating!
