Here are some pictures from our trip to Utah. We had a great time and good visit with Sarah and Nate in Moab and with my old friend Anne in Logan where she’s just started grad school in Fluvial Geomorphology (i just wanted to type that in a post). Moab is growing, but still retains some of its desert charms. Climbed, hiked, slept in Lorraine. It felt good. We came back and put on a haunted house at the Aquatic Center that had over 650 visitors in two days. That’s pretty good for a town of 1500 and a county that only has 10,000.  The weather in Pinedale is holding steady with sunny days in the 50s and nights in the 20s. I ride my bike in 30 degree weather and it doesn’t seem all that cold at all. Maybe we’re acclimating!

On a little roadtrip… were supposed to go to Zionz, but ended up in Moab! Anyway, climbed in Big Cottonwood Canyon yesterday, jenn lead her first trad climb (why did this take so long) and I onsighted a tough 5.9. Had some Cracker Barrel (yummm) and drove on down to Moab. Now we’re sitting at the Arches Bookstore getting some stimulating coffee and delicious books! Reading IS sexy!

Ahhh, the desert. We missed ya.

Wow. Gotta switch my head from climbing mode to skiing mode soon! But we’ve got a trip to Zion next week, so we get a little more summer before we settle in for the long winter!

Bolted a new route at Lizard Rocks just a few minutes from home.  Jenn got the first ascent yesterday for her first first ascent (huh?)! She called it “Fill in the Blank” 5.8 slab and 70 feet tall. It has very few holds and is really cool.

And we got it finished just in time, as today it is 30 degrees and snowing quite hard. Supposed to get accumulation in town and the mountains might get up to 3 feet. Winter is coming for sure!

In true John Bronaugh style, I of course snapped a picture of jenn during the FA!
